The Attune Chair

The individual comes first.

Texture, enclosure and the things we touch can shape how we experience a room. Attune grew from an interest in varied sensory and neurodivergent needs, expressed through furniture for everyday living. The starting point is personal: what feels inviting, what holds our attention and where we choose to settle.

Form & presence

A form that gathers around you.

A tall, curved back flows into the sides of the chair, giving Attune its enclosing silhouette. The seat remains distinct within that larger form, while the arms curve forward to meet the hands.

In a living room, the chair creates a place for an individual within a shared space. Its rounded profile sits comfortably alongside the straight lines of a sofa, window or table. The room studies explore that relationship between a personal seat and the surroundings it belongs to.

Touch & material

Where the hand meets the material.

The handrest follows the curve of the chair, bringing a pale, sculpted surface into contact with a darker timber shell. The close view reveals the meeting edge and the contrast in grain, color and form.

A chair with a presence beyond the front.

Attune’s rounded silhouette continues around the sides and back. Seen together, the front, rear and three-quarter views show how the enclosing form changes with the surface and material.

That character matters when a chair sits away from a wall or is seen as you move through a room. The studies explore pale upholstery, timber surfaces and contrasting handrests; the final combination is developed with our studio.

Sensory design

Different people. Different preferences.

One person notices the texture of a fabric first. Another is drawn to the shape around the shoulders or the feel of a handrest. Attune approaches those differences through form and material, with close attention to the individual experience of sitting.

A smooth inner form.

The chair’s development focused on the arm profile and its relationship to the seat cushion. Smooth inner upholstery gives the form a continuous surface, while the timber handrests introduce a distinct change in touch.

The beginning of a collection.

The chair introduces Attune’s wider exploration of sensory furniture. Color, texture and material connect it to Impressions, the collectible design collection developed with artist Ian Love.
